Formula For Freshmen: Making the Most of Freshman Year In College
Molly Mitchell, Teacher, Peer Supporter
Margaret “Molly” Mitchell is a high school English teacher and a recent graduate of Boston College’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development.
Molly has experience working through college transitions with groups as small as 10 students and as large as 500. During her time at Boston College, Molly mentored 150 first-year students in weekly small groups, leading discussions about belonging, academic pressure, and social well-being. Working with these students solidified her passion for coaching first-years through this life change. Described by her college mentor as “one of the most genuinely kind people,” Molly’s warmth and quirky humor will engage students and invite connection through work with an invested, objective adult—independent from family and teachers—alongside peers who are venturing the same new waters.
She has also presented to large parent and student groups about maintaining one’s authentic identity while navigating a new social and academic environment. She is excited to continue this work through the Formula for Freshmen group.
