Sally Hackett MSE, LPC

Sally (she, her) is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who earned her Master of Science in Education degree by completing the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of Dayton and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.  She also completed EMDR level 1 training in 2020.  Sally began her counseling career after many years working at a Fortune 500 company headquarters and later as a stay-at-home mother.

Sally gained clinical experience through an internship in the student counseling center at Wittenberg University where she addressed client concerns related to anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma, identity issues, career counseling, self-esteem issues, relationship issues and stress management/relaxation.  Since her internship Sally has worked in private practice. For two years, Sally has also co-facilitated a free support group twice monthly for individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder, GOALS for OCD, through Mental Health America of Ohio.

Sally’s approach is non-judgmental as she believes that therapy is about helping clients identify and develop their strengths to overcome life’s inevitable challenges.  Her theoretical orientation is based in holistic wellness, positive psychology and strengths-based approaches to help clients to make the changes they desire.    She utilizes humanistic, person-centered, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, solution-focused, internal family systems, acceptance commitment, exposure and response prevention, and trauma-informed therapies.  She supports emerging and older adult clients with mood disorders, relationship issues, life transitions, career re-launching, caregiving stress, burnout, and existential concerns while encouraging each client’s personal growth.
